Our Story

We moved to Lake City in the fall of 1992 and opened Treats and Treasures on Lyon Avenue in May of 1993….over 25 years ago! This second career was our dream.

Making fudge and chocolates has been a favorite pastime for years so it was a natural for us to open a shop featuring “homestyle” candies.  We filled our little shop with locally themed t-shirts and sweatshirts, gifts, jewelry, books, and seasonal items.

In 2012 we moved to Washington Street and our dream of expanding came true. Now with two floors, we added more apparel, kitchen wares, local and regional merchandise, and expanded our gift and décor offerings.

Over the years we’ve been active in Kiwanis, the Lake City Chamber of Commerce, the Lake City Tourism Bureau, Destination Lake City,  Great River Homes, Mississippi Valley Partners tourism association, and the American Legion. We were instrumental in starting the Washington Street Arts Festival and Lake City Area Arts. We also support the local American Legion, Aktion Club, St. Mary’s Church, the Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance, the Lake City Historical Society, and the Wabasha Chamber of Commerce.

We are fortunate to have had so many wonderful employees and loyal customers that have not only made it possible for us to stay in business in this ever changing retail world,  but to grow into the shop that we now enjoy.
